Minnesota Quarterly Estimated Taxes – Tax Year 2009
| GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
|
Minnesota requires that you complete and submit Minnesota Form M14 (PDF) to make any necessary estimated tax payments. If you don't want to pay by check, you can make a payment online through the Minnesota Department of Revenue website or by phone by calling 1-800-570-3329, and following the prompts to complete your payment.
In most cases, you must make estimated tax payments if you expect to owe $500 or more in Minnesota income tax for 2009 after you subtract your withholding and credits (your credits include any child and dependent care credit, working family credit, education
credit and JOBZ jobs credit), and you expect your withholding and credits to be less than the smaller of:
- 90 percent of the tax shown on your 2009 Form M1 (66.7 percent if you are a farmer or commercial fisherman), or
- 100 percent of your 2008 tax liability (line 23 of your 2008 Form M1) if your federal adjusted gross income on your 2008 return is $150,000 or less. If your 2008 federal adjusted gross income is more than $150,000, use 110 percent instead of 100 percent. (Nonresidents and part-year residents: If your Minnesota tax liability for the previous year was $1 or more, use Minnesota assignable adjusted gross income.)
